CALMFLOOR dampers lead the construction world in vibration reduction technologies. They are the first commercially off-the-shelf available devices for controlling building floor vibrations and each unit is packed with patent-pending highly innovative technology.
At a mere 67kg total weight and 380mm height, each unit can fit around existing on- or under-floor services and is suitable for a wide range of structures. All whilst delivering staggering reductions in floor vibrations of up to 10x based on real-world tests.
Through the same principle as noise cancelling headphones, CALMFLOOR includes a vibration sensor, real-time operating controller and powerful linear motors.
Our proprietary control algorithms have been developed through years of academic and industry R&D and provide highly effective control of pedestrian-induced vibrations. Typical applications include commercial offices, retail, education, research and healthcare. They are particularly suitable for change-of-use applications where flexibility of space is critical. For other applications, we provide bespoke design solutions

Yes, we’re really keen to provide demonstrations because this helps give you the confidence that our solution will work for you. If you have an existing floor that requires vibration control, we can usually provide a demonstration directly on the floor itself, so you can feel the true difference in performance with CALMFLOOR. We also offer demonstrations at seminars and workshops. Please get in touch with us to talk about arranging a demonstration.
Very little. This depends on exactly how often the floor is traversed: a busy corridor with many people walking across will require more electricity than a quiet room where people are mostly sat at desks. We utilise power saving technology to ensure that when vibration levels are low, CALMFLOOR will enter a ‘sleep’ mode. Averaging this out, we’ve estimated that a typical office would require the equivalent of only 10-20W.
Rarely! We want to keep this to an absolute minimum because we understand how disruptive this could potentially be. We’re aiming for a 15 year design life and striving for more. All our devices are internet connected and will alert us to any changes in functioning so we can take swift corrective action if anything is needed.
Absolutely! We appreciate active control is a new technology and engineers are not familiar how to design floors with such a system. However, we’re here to help. If you already have the ability to perform footfall response simulations, then as a very rough first estimate try increasing structural damping to 10% of critical for all relevant modes of vibration and re-running vibration simulations. This will give an indication of how well an AMD system could perform. For a more detailed design or to discuss other design options, please get in touch with us and we’ll work with you to determine how best to take your design further.
This too depends on your specific structure, both in terms of how many distinct areas need vibration mitigation, and to what extent, as well as the structural properties themselves. As a rough first estimate, a single CALMFLOOR damper can reduce vibrations over approximately 50-100m2 of floor area. But do remember that typically only a small area of the floor (around 20%) needs vibration mitigation so only a small number of CALMFLOOR dampers would correspondingly be needed.
We aim to keep a small number of CALMFLOOR dampers in stock to allow for quick deployment on urgent projects, but for larger orders we would build to order and the sooner we receive your order the sooner we will deliver CALMFLOOR on site. We’re doing all we can to minimise lead times. Do get in touch with us to discuss our latest lead times.
